Christmas is around the corner

The Christmas holidays are almost here, bringing with them a break from work, school and routine in general. They are days full of family get-togethers and long periods around tables replete with food and gifts, and it is easy to go overboard and overdo it. Today, in the face of an unprecedented climate emergency and growing social inequalities, the Christmas holidays can be an opportunity to act with greater awareness and responsibility.

Adopting conscious consumption does not mean giving up the treasured moments that make Christmas such a special time. We can continue to prepare our favourite dishes or offer gifts to the little ones without losing sight of the impact our actions have.

Celebrating conscientiously can be as simple as reducing food waste and extravagant menus, opting for intangible gifts or experiences that leave an emotional footprint, choosing local products that promote sustainability and added value, supporting companies and organisations committed to social integration, or choosing products with a low environmental impact or from second-hand exchanges.

Let’s enjoy this festive season from a place of calm, with a spirit of renewal, and let’s make Christmas a pleasant and positive experience for the people around us, while also remembering those in need in our community.

Merry Christmas!
