The European Commissioner for Science & Research visits the PCB

The European Commissioner for Science & Research visited the Parc Científic de Barcelona on 18 September. He was received by the rector of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and president of the Fundació Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB), Màrius Rubiralta, and the director of the PCB, Fernando Albericio, together with other authorities and principal investigators of some of the main research groups and institutes hosted by the Park.


Organized jointly by the PCB and the European Commission Representation in Barcelona, headed by Manel Camós Grau, and with a clear scientific focus, the visit included a tour of the PCB facilities and the opportunity for Janez Potocnik to meet several members of the PCB community.

The visit also included a meeting, which aimed to inform the Commissioner about some of the main lines of research and projects developed at the Park and to provide an opportunity to exchange views.

Among the attendees of this meeting were: Josep Anton Planell, director of the Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC); Antonio Zorzano, with the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona); Ignasi Fita, with the Institut de Biologia Molecular de Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC); Josep Samitier, director of the Nanobioengineering Laboratory; Pere Puigdomènech, with the CSIC-IRTA Plant Molecular Genetics Laboratory; Mar Campins, vice-rector of International Politics and Mobility of the UB; Miquel Moretó, director of the Nutrition and Food Safety Research Institute (INSA·UB) and Sonia Martínez, science officer at the PCB.
