The Barcelona Science Park participates in BioAsia 2010

Next February Biocat and ACC1Ó coordinate a commercial and technological mission to India, in the cities of Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore, for biotechnological, pharmaceutical and TIC Catalan companies. The mission will be led by the counselor of Innovation, Universities and Enterprises, Josep Huguet, and by the president of Biocat Executive Commission, Manel Balcells. Also, they are working on the agenda for biotech and pharmacological companies, which includes the participation in the fair BioAsia in Hyderabad, from 3rd to 6th February. This part of the mission will be shared with European biotechnological companies of Cambridge and Milan. The Barcelona Science Park will participate in this biotechnological and pharmaceutical fair, the first in India in number of participants. The fair, organized by the Federation of Biotechnological Associations of Asia (FABA), is celebrated annually in one of the Indian clusters with major growth of the country, Hyderabad, in the state of Andra Pradesh.

This is the third year that Biocat has coordinated Catalan presence at BioAsia, since this country is one of the future destinations of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector, along with China, where companies are looking for partners for their production processes, clinical trials and to access large markets. Partnering expectations are high, taking into account the more than 3,500 delegates last year and the presence of top multinational corporations working in India. With this visit, Biocat will strengthen the agreement signed last February with the organizers of BioAsia (Federation of Asian Biotech Associations) to foster collaboration and exchange between science parks in Barcelona and Genome Valley. This agreement opens up long-term possibilities to create an institutional framework for joint Indian-Catalan commercial actions.
