An article by IRBio researcher Julio Rozas is ranked as the most cited article in Spain

A scientific article signed by Julio Rozas, professor at the Department of Genetics and at the Biodiversity Research Institute (IRBio) of the University of Barcelona –located at the Barcelona Science Park- as leading author, is the most cited work in all of Spain, with 1,815 citations during the 1999-2009 period, according to data from Essential Science Indicators. This ranking, available at the ScienceWatch portal, provides a list of articles with the highest international impact –signed only by authors from the same country- in the twenty countries with the most significant scientific production.

Rozas’ article is titled DnaSP, DNA polymorphism analyses by the coalescent and other methods and was published in 2003 in the journal Bioinformatics, from Oxford University Press. This work presents a powerful bioinformatics programme to analyse DNA polymorphisms, and is signed by Julio Rozas and Ricardo Rozas, from the Department of Genetics of the University of Barcelona, and by Juan C. Sánchez del Barrio and Xavier Messeguer, from the Department of Languages and Computer Systems of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
