The 5th edition of BioEntrepreneur XXI starts

Yesterday, May 7 at 12:00 pm, took place the presentation of the 5th edition of BioEntrepreneur XXI, a training, advice and support program for the creation and growth of companies in the field of life sciences, promoted by Biocat, "la Caixa", Barcelona Activa, Genome España and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce . At the end of the program, a first prize is awarded to the best entrepreneurial initiative and recognition to the two finalists. The three prize winners become eligible for preferential conditions at the technology platforms of the Barcelona Science Park.


During the event, which was held at the Emprem Hall of the Entrepreneurship Glories Center of Barcelona Activa, a roundtable entitled “Entrepreneurship the field of life sciences ” was held which enjoyed the presence of renowned participants from previous editions, such as Ignasi Belda, 2008 BioEntrepreneur XXI winner and CEO of the company Intelligent Pharma, based at the Barcelona Science Park

Support to creation and growth of innovative businesses

BioEntrepreneur XXI is a training, advice and support program offered to entrepreneurs that lasts six months and receives about 15 participants who will have at their disposal a set of tools and resources that facilitate both the creation process and the growth of a company as well as the mentoring of relevant persons in the sector.

For the last three editions, part of the training activities have been taught in English in order to attract entrepreneurial talent and innovation around the world and thus consolidate the city as a benchmark in the establishing businesses in field of life sciences in southern Europe. In addition to training, and in order to facilitate access to financing, entrepreneurs taking part in the program will be able to participate in two specialized investment forums in Barcelona and Madrid, respectively.

At the end of the program, a competition of business plans takes place before a jury and a first prize is awarded to the best entrepreneurship initiative (20,000 Euros) and a recognition to the two finalists (10,000 Euros and 5,000 Euros, respectively). In addition, the three companies become eligible for preferential conditions at the technology platforms of the Barcelona Science Park. The awards will be presented in December as part of the Biocat Forum, the annual gathering of biotechnology, biomedical and medical technology in Catalonia.
