The CNAG and the Barcelona Science Park collected more than 300 kgs for the Banc dels Aliments

The CNAG and the Barcelona Science Park collected more than 300 kgs of food for the solidarity campaign in collaboration with the Banc dels Aliments, the food bank of Spain, which distributes food to more than 200.000 people in Catalunya.

The Foundation Banc dels Aliments (“Food Bank”) of Barcelona is a private, independent charitable foundation that fights against hunger and prevents the destruction of consumable food that cannot be sold so it can be given to local people in need.

The first Food Bank originated in Phoenix (Arizona) in 1966, thanks to an idea from John Van Engel. In 1984 the concept was applied in Europe (Food Bank of Paris), and in 1987 the Food Bank Welfare Foundation was established in Barcelona, being the first such Bank in Spain.
