Biotech Development sets up its offices at the Parc Científic de Barcelona

Biotech Development, a consultancy company specializing in R&D+i, knowledge transfer and development of postgraduate training programs has just moved its headquarters to the Parc Científic de Barcelona. The startup wants to strengthen its business model and public-private collaborative partnerships to enhance its expansion strategy in the field of biotechnology in a cluster that promotes scientific and business innovation.

Biotech Development was created in 2013 by 27-year old enterprising young biologist by the name of Juan Garcia Soria, in response to a clear need in the Spanish biotechnology sector: bridging the gap for effective and dynamic communication between the academia and the industry and generate new public-private collaboration partnerships so that the results of research in health sciences are transferred to the marked as economic realities and new drugs for the benefit of society.

“Contributing to the value chain of the development process of new drugs by investing in its most valuable asset, the human asset, has been the leitmotiv for creating Biotech Development,” said Juan Garcia Soria, the startup CEO.”In the reality of current research we face two distinct challenges: first, to promote knowledge transfer and public-private collaborative partnerships and, secondly, to support professionals in the life sciences to take on the process of change that is involved and to provide business solutions for the funding of new lines of research, “stated the young entrepreneur.

To carry out the project, the company is staffed with highly qualified multidisciplinary team and a group of investment partners with scientific and business knowledge that provide the necessary tools to address this knowledge transfer in the most effective manner. The company also has the support of institutions such as the University of Barcelona, Biocat and the Spanish Association of Biotechnology Companies (ASEBIO).

Currently, Biotech Development diversifies its activities into three distinct business lines: R&D+i Consulting, Knowledge Transfer and Business School.
