Presentation of 2014 edition of BioEmprenedorXXI and EcoEmprenedorXXI

Next Tuesday, 27 May, life sciences and clean energy entrepreneurs are invited to the presentation of the 2014 edition of the BioEmprenedorXXI and EcoEmprenedorXXI programs promoted by Barcelona Activa, Biocat, la Caixa and KIC InnoEnergy. At the end of the BioEmprenedorXXI program, the best business plan and two runners-up are awarded with cash prizes. These three companies, in addition to the other advantages, also benefit from free registration in training activities and international fairs and are considered associated companies at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), giving them advantageous conditions on this body's services.

The event will begin with a presentation of both programs by Carles Trenchs, general manager of Caixa Capital Risc; Susana Tintoré, executive director of Services at Barcelona Activa; Montserrat Vendrell, CEO of Biocat; and Mikel Lasa, CEO of KIC InnoEnergy Iberia. Afterwards, Joan Riera (ESADE) will give a conference entitled Keys to launching your start-up and then entrepreneurs Carlos Arias (iMicroQ) and Ramon Molera (Nnergix) will explain their experience as participants in BioEmprenedorXXI and EcoEmprenedorXXI, respectively.

Throughout their many editions (seven of BioEmprenedorXXI and four of EcoEmprenedorXXI), the two programs have led to the creation of 77 companies and generated 374 new jobs, figures that prove the efficacy of the initiative and the quality of participating projects.

The call for proposals for the 2014 edition of BioEmprenedorXXI was opened on 22 April and the deadline to submit projects is 1 June. This program offers support in creating technology-based companies in any discipline of the life sciences in Catalonia, including biomedicine, biotechnology, medical technology and the agrifood sector.

Participants receive training, mentoring, information on access to funding and participate in networking activities. The program aims to help entrepreneurs to develop their business plan while broadening their network of contacts and facilitating their access to the global market. To do so, they receive, among other resources and tools, technical and executive-skills training and mentoring from an expert in order to define and consolidate their new company. At the end of the BioEmprenedorXXI program, the best business plan and two runners-up are awarded with cash prizes. These three companies, in addition to the other advantages, also benefit from free registration in training activities and international fairs and are considered associated companies at the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB), giving them advantageous conditions on this body’s services.
