Endor donates 67,000 euros to SJD Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona

The biotech company Endor Technologies, based at the Parc Científic de Barcelona, donated €67,120 to Hospital Sant Joan de Déu’s SJD Pediatric Cancer Center Barcelona (PCBB) to advance research to fight Ewing’s sarcoma. This initiative was made possible thanks to a company campaign to donate 100% of the proceeds from sales made in a 24-hour period, between 27 and 28 June, to the cancer centre. The public response of solidarity was massive. Almost one order per minute.

Endor’s donation goes to the PCCB Developmental Cancer Research Laboratory, led by Dr Jaume Mora, scientific director of the SJD Pediatric Cancer Center, to further the fight against Ewing’s sarcoma, a developmental cancer that presents with tumours in the bones and soft tissues. It is a disease unique to humans caused by the fusion of two genes and the most common malignant bone tumour in children and young people in Spain. Currently, 32% of affected patients are unable to beat the disease.

Endor Technologies, created in 2007 and led by Joaquín Querol, focuses its activity on the development of solutions for skin care and oncology. Its cosmetic products, based on proprietary biotechnology, are marketed through e-commerce and the professional channel of aesthetic doctors and specialised centres. Its oncology programme is in clinical phases and aims to find a treatment for solid tumours.

One of the company’s strategies to connect with its audience is the interview podcast El Secreto de la Vida [The Secret of Life], featuring conversations with people dedicated to improving the lives of others. One of its most recent guests was Dr Manel del Castillo, director of Hospital Sant Joan de Déu and the man behind the campaign launched by the company the same day the episode was broadcast, with the aim of giving the hospital 100% of the sales they made in 24 hours. Link to podcast [+]
