A delegation from Uruguay visits the Barcelona Science Park

A representative delegation from the public and private sectors of Uruguay, headed by the Minister of Economics and Finances of that country, Álvaro García, the ambassador of Uruguay in Spain, Ricardo González, and the Consul General of Uruguay in Barcelona, José María Araneo, visited the Barcelona Science Park yesterday to become familiarized with PCB's project – for there is no similar initiative in that country – and establish possible collaboration agreements.


The visit, organized by the Embassy of Uruguay in Spain, in collaboration with Uruguay XXI, an organization that aims to internationalize Uruguayan economy, is part of a broader mission the objective of which is to attract foreign investors and establish agreements of economic cooperation and development.

The delegation, composed by several representatives from the Uruguayan government and the business world, such as the chairman of the Chamber of Industry of Uruguay, Diego Balestra, the ambassador of the National Chamber of Commerce and Services, Julio Lacarte, and the general managing director of the Trade Chamber, Gonzalo González Piedras, was welcomed by the Barcelona Science Park general director, Fernando Albericio, the managing director, Roser Artal, and by members of the executive committee of the Aresa of Research and Innovation, Scientific Policy, Corporate Relations and Communication of the PCB.

The presentation event was opened jointly by the director of PCB, Fernando Albericio, and the Minister of Economics, Álvaro García, and also featured a lecture by Roberto Villamil, executive director of Uruguay XXI, and a number of representatives from different entities and companies based at PCB, who gave a small presentation of their activity and main objectives, such the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), the Biomedicine division of the Leitat Technology Center, the scientific-technical services Kymos Pharma Services, Prous Institute for Biomedical Research, Ordesa, as well as other biocompanies such as Genmedica Therapeutics, T Solar Global , Aromics and Aleria Biodevices.
