CataloniaBio grants the ‘BioSuccess of the Year’ award to STAT-Diagnostica

The Catalan Association of Biotechnology Companies (CataloniaBio) has recognized Stat-Diagnostica –founded in 2010 at the Barcelona Science Park by Jordi Carrera and Rafael Bru– with the 'Biosuccess of the Year' Award. The prize giving ceremony was held yesterday at the Museu Maritimo of Barcelona under his winter networking event CataloniaBio Gala Dinner, a yearly meeting organised by this business association with the aim of enhancing scientific-business cooperation in Catalonia in the field of life sciences and health.

In April 2016 STAT-Diagnostica –which focuses on the development of diagnostic systems and Near Patient Testing solutions–  closed a Series C financing round totaling 25 million Euros/28.5 million USD. The operation was led by the Dutch investor Gilde Healthcare and it was completed by Ysios Capital Partners and other investors who are already part of the company. The capital will be used to complete all the processes necessary to receive approval for the DiagCORE platform, an in-vitro diagnostic system that will allow medical staff to carry out up to fifteen molecular diagnosis and immunoassay tests.

In recognition of the best agreements, business developments and milestones, CataloniaBio grants the Premi Bioèxit de l’any (Biosuccess of the year Award) to one entrepreneur at the CataloniaBio Gala Dinner, the yearly meeting of the sector held at an emblematic site in Barcelona. This year CataloniaBio Gala Dinner was hosted at the Museu Maritím de Barcelona, bringing together more than 250 entrepreneurs, investors, researchers and professionals in the field of life sciences and health. The event had been chaired by Professor Andreu Mas-Colell president of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), located at PCB.

In this edition, the award has also been granted to Mosaic Biomedicals, a spin-off of the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology founded by Dr. Joan Seoane, Dr. Judit Anido and Dr. Josep Baselga.
