Ignasi Belda, founder of Intelligent Pharma, has been honored with the Innovation Recognition Award from the Cecot

In the framework of the 20th edition of the La Nit de l'Empresari (Entrepreneur Night) –which was held yesterday at the Palau de Congresos de Catalunya– Ignasi Belda, founder and CEO of Intelligent Pharma received from the president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Artur Mas, the "Innovation Award', presented annually by the Catalan Cecot Foundation.


Intelligent Pharma is based at the Parc Cientific de Barcelona and has been focusing its activity for nearly a decade on the R&D of new computer technologies -based primarily on artificial intelligence and supercomputational intelligence- in order to accelerate and reduce costs in the design process of new drugs. Founded in 2007 by a young entrepreneur, engineer Ignasi Belda, the company now has subsidiaries in three countries worldwide (Germany, UK and USA)- in addition to a strong network of clients in Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia and has received numerous awards for being one of the most innovative companies in the country: such as the Prince of Girona Foundation Business Award (2014); the EntrepreneurXXI Award (2010) and the BioentrepreneurXXI Award (2008).

“Intelligent Pharma has once more been recognized for its high vocational spirit and commitment to R&D, as proven by our scientific leadership in the field of molecular modeling applied to the design and optimization of new molecular entities and by our large portfolio of clients in Europe, America and Asia, “said Ignasi Belda.

The Entrepreneur Night –organized annually by the Cecot Foundation– has consolidated itself in the agendas of businessmen and businesswomen throughout Catalonia.The 20th edition of the gathering brought together over a thousand representatives from the business, economic, political and social arenas of the country. The event was chaired by the President of the Generalitat, Artur Mas, and was attended by the Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias; the Minister of Enterprise and Employment, Felip Puig; the Minister of Planning and Sustainability, Santi Vila; and the Minister of Education, Irene Rigau, among others.

Over the course of the event, awards for recognition of business progress granted by the Cecot were presented to all companies, associations, representatives of the social media, and organizations that have all excelled in the development, improvement, dissemination and contribution they have made to the economic and business world. The Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, received the Best Practices awards in public administration for the good work done at the Mobile World Capital Barcelona Foundation. Other winners of this year´s edition of the Cecot awards were Victor Grifols, Fluidra, Tous, Gama Profit, Jovi, Fontgas, Els Nous Rals, Xpressia Geophysics, Group Sifu, Gft it Consulting, Patrosil-Acevip and Tick Translations.
