PCB bioincubator reaches final of European Enterprise Awards

The bioincubator of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) will be one of the finalists representing Spain in the . The awards are given by the European Union in recognition of best practices among those public, regional and local initiatives aimed at promoting the enterprise spirit and economic and business development in the various regions of a country.

The selection of the PCB bioincubator as a finalist in the event serves as recognition of the innovative proposal that marked its opening in 2002, when it was created in conjunction with the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera. Indeed, the bioincubator initiative has fostered the growth of biotech firms that are now regarded as key sector leaders.

The enterprise awards are organised in collaboration with the European Union’s Committee of the Regions, and thus special emphasis is placed on the achievements of initiatives developed at the level of local and regional economies.

During October and November the European Jury will be deliberating over all the entrants from different countries, with the awards ceremony due to be held in Porto on December 2007.
