A new technique allows researchers to focus the action of drugs via infrared light Blog Post

A scientific team led by the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), based at the Barcelona Science Park, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB)manages to efficiently activate molecules located inside cell tissues using two-photon excitation of with infrared light lasers. The study has recently been published in the journal Nature Communications.

 

Urea-powered nanomotors a promising therapy for bladder cancer Blog Post

The Smart Nano-Bio-Devices group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in the Barcelona Science Park have published a paper describing nanomotors that can attack 3D bladder cancer spheroids in vitro. The study reveals that nanomotors are a promising way to specifically target tumor tissues, enhancing the efficacy of cancer treatment and minimizing side effects.

 

Launch of “StarLife”, a new informatics infrastructure to boost biomedical research Blog Post

Today marks the official presentation of “StarLife”, an informatics cluster that is housed at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. This infrastructure is designed to give impetus and service to biomedical research of excellence and precision medicine.
