The fair “Live Research” takes off at CosmoCaixa Blog Post

Bringing science to society, fostering communication between the public and researchers and promote scientific vocation among the young are the aims of the Live Research fair, that started yesterday at CosmoCaixa Barcelona until Saturday 9th April. The exhibit has been organized by the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) and Obra Social ”la Caixa” with the support of the Barcelona City Council and the collaboration of the University of Barcelona (UB).

 

Identification of a new protein essential for ovule and sperm formation Blog Post

Scientists at he Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) –headed by ICREA researcher Angel R. Nebreda– discover a crucial protein for meiosis, the cell division process that gives rise to sex cells. Without the RingoA protein, both male and female mice are sterile. Published in Nature Communications, the results could pave the way for the development of male contraceptives.

 

Pharma companies innovate through talent management and tech transfer Blog Post

The fourth SciCloud (Scientific Cloud Conference) event held by Mind the Byte, in collaboration with the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) and CataloniaBio, on the 30th of March focused on the innovation models that four emblematic Catalan pharmaceutical companies (Uriach, Ferrer, Kern Pharma and Reig Jofre) use to compete on the global market and on how technology transfer is being successfully promoted through initiatives like Tech & Business Innovation (TBI) and at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. 

 

9th Awards of the UB Board of Trustees and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation Blog Post

The Board of Trustees of the University of Barcelona and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, locat at PCB, announce the 9th Awards of the Board of Trustees and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation. They announced two awards: the Antoni Caparrós Award, to the best project of transferring knowledge, and the Senén Vilaró Award, to the best innovative firm created by a UB graduate or affiliated with the UB Group. The deadline for applications is 31 May.

 

2016 season of Lessons Learned kicks off Blog Post

Biocat and the CataloniaBio business association are holding the first session in the 2016 season of Lessons Learned on 31 March at the Barcelona Science Park. Experts and professionals from the health and life sciences sector will participate in a session entitled: ‘Models organitzatius a les bio-empreses i la gestió del canvi: Quines són les claus de l’èxit?’ discussing the doubts that come up in moving forward with projects from the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arenas.

 

Aromics and Iproteos present their projects at 16th Healthcare Investment Forum Blog Post

Aromics and Iproteos, based at the Barcelona Science Park, have been selected to present their innovation projects at 16th Healthcare Investment Forum, which took place on 9th March at the meeting room of the Barcelona Medical Association (COMB). The workshop, organised by Biocat, Esade BAN, Barcelona Activa and COMB, aims to create a meeting point for companies in the healthcare sector and investors who might be interested in funding their idea or product. Since 2009, this initiative has helped lunch over 100 companies following a selection process that evaluated about 400 projects.

 

Minoryx Therapeutics and Palobiofarma receive the 2016 Biosuccess Award Blog Post

The Catalan Association of Biotechnology Companies (CataloniaBio) has recognized with the Biosuccess Award of the Year two companies associated with the Barcelona Science Park (PCB): Minoryx Therapeutics, which has just finished setting up their lab facilities at PCB, and Palobiofarma, which was based at the Parc from 2010 to 2013. The award giving ceremony was held yesterday at Palau de Pedralbes under his winter networking event CataloniaBio Gala Dinner, which this year coincided with the 10th anniversary and gathered more than 250 entrepreneurs, investors, researchers and professionals from the fields of the life sciences and health. 

 

PCB presents the BATX2LAB awards Blog Post

Yesterday, Wednesday 9th March, the Barcelona Science Park organized the awards ceremony of the best research works of the BATX2LAB program –a project fostered as part of its program ‘Research in Society‘–, which this year has been organized with the support of the Municipal Institute of Education of the Barcelona City Council (IMEB). The event took place at the Dolors Aleu Hall at PCB bringing together more than 100 attendees.
