The Barcelona Science Park joins the APTE’s ‘Science and Technology in Feminine’ project

Under the slogan The universe is waiting for you to change it... Will you be the next great scientist to go down in history?, the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) is organising a four sessions for 1st, 2nd and 3rd-year secondary students to encourage their interest in and ability for research and to spark their entrepreneurial spirit. The events, which will take place on October 22, 23, 25 and 26 with the support of Bayer Hispania, are being organised as part of the ‘Science and Technology in Feminine’ project promoted by the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE).

During the first part of the sessions, the students will have the chance to take part in a guided tour of the exhibition Women that changed the world, which offers a detailed look at the careers of famous female scientists who made great achievements for humanity. Afterwards, the students will be able to talk to a researcher from the Barcelona Science Park and ask her about her work, her day-to-day activities – inside and outside the laboratory – and the career paths available in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The second part of the day will consist of an experimental workshop in which the students will put into practice their knowledge in the area of research. After this, there will be another workshop to spark their entrepreneurial spirit by challenging them to find innovative solutions to problems related to the Challenges set out in the European Union Research and Innovation Framework Programme, Horizon 2020.

The students will also be able to participate in a nationwide competition organised by APTE by submitting a video on the idea developed during the workshop at the PCB. The prize for the winning entry will be presented on 22 November as part of the 16th APTE International Conference in Avilés, Asturias.
