The Barcelona Science Park takes part in the 7th edition of Bio-Europe Spring

Between 11 and 13 March, the city of Barcelona will host BIO-Europe Spring (BES), the spring edition of the most important partnering meting of the biotech and pharmaceutical industry in Europe. The event –organitzed by EBD-Group, with the colaboration of Biocat and the City Hall of Barcelona– will be atended by sixty companies and Catalan organisations (60% of the total number of Spanish companies), of which 35% are located at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), which is also taking an active participation in the congress.


Bio-Europe Spring (BES) –that will be held at the International Convention Center of Barcelona (CCIB)– will facilitate networking ‘one-to-one’ networking in companies in the biotechentre , pharmaceutical and financial sectors, both national and internationally, through an extensive program of conferences, workshops and company presentations.

Also, in parallel to the scheduled activities, a permanent trade exhibition of products and services will also be offered and partnering individual meetings will be held in which the Barcelona Science park (PCB) will play a very active role, with the aim to promote the enterprises located in its premises and to identify new collaboration opportunities for PCB Technology Platforms.

Numerous companies based at the PCB will also be present at BIO-Europe Spring, such as AbBcn, Bioingenium, Era Biotech, Esteve, Fundació Bosch i Gimpera, (FBG), Genmedica Therapeutics, IRB Barcelona, Iproteos, Janus Developments, Kymos Pharma Services, Neurotec Pharma, Palobiofarma, Pharmaphenix, SOM Biotech, STAT- Diagnostica & Innovation, Vivotecnia and Ysios Capital.

The BES annually attracts top leaders in the biotechnology sector in Europe (70%), North America (19%) and Asia (11%). The celebration of the event for the second time in Barcelona reaffirms the strategic position of the city and the Bioregion of Catalonia worldwide in this field. The Catalan capital hosted the event in 2010, with record numbers of participation (1,788 delegates from 1,061 companies) and an estimated economic benefit for the city of 2.2 million Euros.

To bring the event to Barcelona, a Hosting Organizing Commitee was constituted, headed by Biocat and the City Hall of Barcelona, that also included the participation of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Invest in Spain, Asebio, Cataloniabio, Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, MNAC and the Marítim Museum of Barcelona. Moreover, the BES is sponsored by Catalan companies representative of the Bioregion of Catalonia, such as Almirall, Amgen, Biokit, Reig Jofré, Ysios and Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira.

BES 2013 Satellite Partnering Event @ the Barcelona Science Park

On Wednesday, 13 March, the Barcelona Science Park will host ‘BES 2013 Satellite Partnering Event @ Parc Científic de Barcelona’, a partnering workshop ran simultenously with BioEurope Spring for companies based at the PCB. The activity has been made posible thanks to the joint collaboration of UbiFrance and ACC1Ó, and will host four invited countries: France, Switzerland, Greece and Hungary.
