The SEA-PCB incorporates a new biological containment module

This week The Animal Experimentation Service of the Barcelona Science Park () has incorporated and started to use a new module for the housing and containment of laboratory animals. The module was installed in the Park's Modular building. The acquisition of this new piece of equipment forms part of the ongoing actions undertaken to keep up the growth and rate of work at the SEA-PCB.

The addition of this module will be of assistance in the restructuring of the SEA-PCB facilities which is aimed at increasing the capacity of the current facilities, and enlarging the Specific Pathogen Free area (SPF). The work is due to be completed by the end of February 2008.

The biomodule installed in the Park is a technologically advanced facility for housing laboratory animals in specific pathogen free conditions. It was designed jointly by the SEA-PCB and Intégration Pharmaceutique Modulaire (), a French company with considerable experience in the construction of similar infrastructures for the pharmaceutical industry.
