The University of Barcelona (UB) and the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC) signed an agreement this week to strengthen their collaboration in research activities, knowledge transfer and lifelong learning in the food and agricultural sector. The agreement specifically deals with the Nutrition and Food Safety Research Institute (INSA·UB) which forms part of the Barcelona Science Park. The agreement was signed by the rector of the UB, Dídac Ramírez, and by Josep Pere Colat, the chair of the FCAC.

The Vice-rector of Research, Jordi Alberch; the director of the INSA·UB, Professor Miquel Moretó; and the person responsible for promoting university/business projects at the INSA·UB, Josep Pascual Nebra, also took part in the event. As representatives of the FCAC, the director Anna Toda and the coordinator of the Services Unit, Domènec Vila, were also present.

This agreement will cover, among other things: collaborative activities on R&D and innovation projects; the offer of specialist services from teaching and research staff of the INSA·UB; the dissemination and promotion of scientific and technological services from the UB in the field of activity of the FCAC; and lifelong learning.
