Conference on new support programmes aimed to boost cooperation in R+D+I

On 14 March, the Antoni Caparrós Auditorium of the PCB hosted the conference . This conference addressed the mechanisms operating in the public and private sectors that stimulate collaboration between academia and the business sector.

The conference was presented by the director of the Innovation Centre, M. Carme Verdaguer, and the vice-rector of Research at the UPC, Juan Jesús Pérez. It included sessions by the director of Technology Policy, Carlos Alejaldre, who addressed the measures that the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) have adopted to boost R+D+I and technology transfer; and by the deputy director of the Marketing Unit of SMEs and Banesto Commerce, Josep Badia, who focused on uni-SME loans to develop projects with universities and public centres in the field of R+D+I.

The conference programme also included a presentation on loans offered by the Central and Regional governments for the appointment of R+D+I staff by enterprises, technology centres and business associations, given by the deputy director of Research Staff Training and Mobility (MEC), Israel Marqués, and the assessor of the Research-Business Programme of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Cristina Costa. To develop this topic, more examples of cases were examined, such as the enterprise Era Biotech, located at the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park).

The conference was organized by the Innovation Centre (FBG-UB), the Spanish Network of University-Enterprise Foundations (Redfue) and the Technology Transfer Centre of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, and under the auspices of the MEC and with the collaboration of the Dept. of Universties, Research and Information Society of the Generalitat de Catalunya.
