10 March: Seminar on the use of Inclusive Communication

“What is not named, does not exist. Inclusive communication is not a formality”.

By Sílvia Donoso López, PhD in social anthropology and master’s degree in gender and equality policies between women and men. She has worked in international cooperation for organizations such as the European Commission and UNWomen, and has advised public administrations and companies on equality policies. She has also developed research on gender violence, femicide and the labor market. Since 2020, she has worked at the Institute of Marine Sciences, where she has led the formulation of the Gender Equality and Non-Sexist Language Plan and has promoted transformative policies at the center. She is currently researching the integration of the gender perspective in research.

Brief review:

Inclusive communication is not a formality. It is not limited to language either, but refers to the content of what is written and the images that often accompany it. Also naming women allows women to be visible, highlighting their contributions and contributing to their becoming leaders in areas where they have been invisible.
