Phyture Biotech, under the guidance of the FBG, is the third place winner in ACC1Ó’s “Business Ideas Contest”

Out of the 110 projects submitted to the 9th Business Ideas Contest organized by ACC1Ó, two business projects, under the guidance of the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG) –located at the Barcelona Science Park- won third place and became a finalist, respectively. Phyture Biotech, a company that emerged from the School of Pharmacy of the UB and which received guidance from the FBG, received the third place award as acknowledgement of the best business ideas promoted by the Technological Trampolines Network of ACC1Ó, an award which was personally delivered by the vice- rector of Innovation and Knowledge Transfer of the UB, Àlex Aguilar, in an awards ceremony presided by Councillor Huguet. Another business project guided by the FBG, Nanochimia, was a finalist in the contest.

The Bosch i Gimpera Foundation provides support to researchers of the University of Barcelona in all modalities of knowledge and technology transfer: collaborative research, contract research, patent valuation and licensing, or creation of knowledge-based companies. The creation of Phyture Biotech is a success story of “Crea!Empresa”, an activity that was initiated two years ago by the Business Creation Area of the FBG with the objective of promoting the entrepreneurial spirit of the UB Group. Phyture Biotech proposes a series of innovative solutions to produce vegetable compounds by means of vegetable cell cultures aimed at obtaining industrially feasible amounts of vegetable compounds. Nanochimia’s project is to launch nanotechnology-based products into the market. At present it has three patents that are being commercialised via the Valuation and Licensing Area of the FBG.
