The Hominid group’s expedition to the Galapagos Islands, in “Research in Action”

The "Research in Action" portal of the Commission for Universities and Research and the Agency for Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR) will present the work conducted by two Catalan researchers who have followed the steps of Charles Darwin over the course of two months: Jordi Serrallonga, director of the Human Origins group Hominid –located at the Barcelona Science Park- and Ivan Briz, researcher of the Milà i Fontanals Institute of the Higher Council of Scientific Research. Both researchers will describe, by means of a blog, their experiences during the scientific expeditions they took part in in the Galapagos Islands and Tierra del Fuego, respectively, two areas the British naturalist explored nearly 170 years ago.

The project, titled “From Tierra del Fuego to the Galapagos Islands”, has been launched to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his work “The Origin of Species” and inaugurates phase 2.0 of the “Research in Action” portal, which incorporates several tools to enable the participation of users. This initiative, promoted by AGAUR, has been carried out in collaboration with the Government and University of the Balearic Islands and the Spanish Federation of Science and Technology (FECYT).
