The PCB’s Nanotechnology Platform presents its research in an informative documentary

Yesterday, February 22, the premiere public screening of the documentary "One Night at the Laboratory", a series of 2 to 3 minute features that show the research activity conducted during the night shift by several research groups from different centers and institutes of Catalonia, was held. These videos include "The Nanotissue Factory", where researcher Alvaro Mata, head of the of the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), explains the techniques employed by his team to develop new biomaterials, tissue scaffolds and devices that can specifically interact with biology at a cellular and subcellular level for applications in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

The presentation event for this documentary, which is available online, coincided with the inauguration of the 15th edition of the Masters in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication, organized by the Scientific Communication Observatory of the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). Its production was made possible thanks to funding received from the Generalitat de Catalunya, which is framed within the Actions for Science Communication and Dissemination (2009 ACDC grants).

This documentary also presents some of the research lines performed by other researchers of the UB Group, such as Jordi Serra-Cobo, of the Department of Animal Biology of the University of Barcelona; Xavier Luri, of the Department of Astronomy and Metereology of the School of Physics, and Joan Santamaria, of the School of Medicine-Clinical Hospital of Barcelona.

Other research centers that have participated in this video are the Scientific Information Port of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Mediterranean Center for Marine and Environmental Research (CSIC), the Biologic Laboratory of the Scientific Police and the Center for Genomic Regulation of Barcelona (CRG).
