The Barcelona Science Park will host the FPdGi Scientific Research 2017 Award presentation ceremony

The Barcelona Science Park will host next March 23 the 2017 Princess of Girona Foundation Scientific Research Award (FPdGi Scientific Research Award) presentation ceremony. Hours before the winner is announced, a hundred young people will participate in the workshop led by entrepreneur Xavier Verdaguer where they will be challenged to create a project that will increase women´s presence at the forefront of scientific research.

Inspire, encourage and support more girls and young women to become the leaders of future scientific projects. This is the challenge that hundreds of young people age 16 to 35 will have to solve during their participation on 23 March in the macroworkshop to be held at Parc Cientific de Barcelona, and organized by Xavier Verdaguer (Imagine CC) and the head of the 2014 FPdGi Business Award, Ignasi Belda.

Distributed in ten teams, young individuals will compete against the clock and work as if they were startups to solve the challenge. The workshop will be developed following the Lombard method and will consist of 4 phases: inspiration, ideation, prototyping and communication. In the last part of the activity, a competition will be held to reward with distinction the team that generates the best project based on the criteria of feasibility, innovation, work done and presentation. All participants who complete the activity will obtain the international Lombard method certificate. The workshop will be led by Xavier Verdaguer, a consolidated entrepreneur based in California’s Silicon Valley where he founded the Imagine Innovation Center and who has 6 years of experience in developing disruptive innovation projects for large companies and successful startups. Verdaguer sponsors this year’s FPdGi Awards along with presenter, actor and director Ángel Llàcer.

The “marathon of ideas”, which will begin at 15 hours and end 100 minutes later, will serve to kick off the proclamation of the FPdGi Scientific Research Award. Registration deadline to attend the workshop the objective of which is to enhance women´s visibility and presence in the scientific world is now open. Attendance will be free of charge and can be confirmed at the following link [+].

Talk with the winners

At 17 hours, the winners of the challenge will participate in a gathering led by Angel Llàcer where they will explain their ideas to get more girls and young women become leaders of scientific projects in the future. This talk will also be attended by Verdaguer, and researchers Samuel Sánchez (2015 FPdGi Scientific Research Award), Alberto Enciso (2014 FPdGi Scientific Research Award) and Guadalupe Sabio (2012 FPdGi Scientific Research Award) who will be discussing their experiences in this field. An hour later, at 6 pm, the name of the young talent awarded the FP7Gi Scientific Research Prize 2017 will be announced.
