‘Transfiere’, the Second European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation

More than 200 companies and institutions, 250 research groups from fifty Spanish universities, and representatives from 28 science and technology parks, including the director general of the Barcelona Science Park, Salvador Maluquer, attended the second edition of 'Transfiere', the Second European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation. 47% of the organizations that participated in the event, which took place on 13 and 14 February at Malaga Exhibition and Conference Hall in Malaga- are members or associates of the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE), that chaired the organizing committee.


The forum brought together in one place, the scientific and technological demand of large companies with the offer of more than 360 research groups, around nine leading economic sectors, including energy, industry, environment, health, food and agriculture, telecommunications, infrastructures and transportation, tourism, services, and financing, and generated 2,600 bilateral meetings among more than 1,500 participants.

The role of science and technology parks in the transfer of technology and the world scene of action models was the focus of the first of the five roundtables held at the forum. Moderated by the Director General of the International Association of Science and Technology Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), Luis Sanz, the event enjoyed the participation of representatives from major international parks, such as President of the IASP and the Lake Nola Medical City in the United States, Rick Weddle; the managing director of Japan’s Kyoto Research Park, Koji Okuda; the managing director of Joensuu Science Park in Finland, Jari Lauronen; and the President of the Advisory Committee of the IASP and the Association of Science Parks in the UK, Jane Davis.
